Welcome to a new bar year for the NCBA and the Corporate Counsel Section. This is your section, and I am honored to serve as section chair for 2024-2025. We have an engaged and enthusiastic leadership team and our focus is seeking meaningful ways to involve membership across the state.  Many of you are familiar with and participate in the various offerings and activities provided through the section. These include highly relevant and practical “thought leadership” events, CLE programs, networking events and pro bono opportunities.

For those who are actively involved, I offer my deep gratitude and appreciation as it takes the participation of many dedicated members to deliver and coordinate events and to serve on committees that are relevant to our section’s interests. For members of the in-house community who may be new to the section or veteran members who haven’t yet actively “leaned in,” to section activities, I hope you will make a “New (Bar) Year’s Resolution” to join a committee, provide your input and ideas and attend programs and events. It is easy to do, and I can attest from personal experience that you get out much more than you put in! For me, I count the long-term relationships developed with section colleagues through involvement in section events among the greatest benefits.

Here are some specific ways to get involved:

Joining a Committee

Our committees provide the foundation for the section’s impact and value delivered to our membership. Their work results in our successful events and programming, so if you are interested in being a member on any of our vibrant committees listed below, or learning more about any committee’s work, please let me know. We are always looking for new committee members who can add new and diverse ideas and thoughts. Committee work also establishes an opportunity to network with other members and to be a part of section leadership. Committee work is virtual, so do not allow travel to be a barrier to you joining a committee!

Corporate Counsel Community

We look forward to strengthening our Corporate Counsel Section community as we re-establish friendships and make new ones. Please check out the NCBA website’s Corporate Counsel Community page to learn more about our section, and to stay in touch on our activities and connect with fellow section members.

Finally, please do not hesitate to reach out to me or members of section leadership if you have ideas on section events or any ideas on how we can continue to add value to your membership. I look forward to a fantastic year serving as your chair!
