A Welcome Message From the Chair
By Jim Lanik
Dear Members of the Bankruptcy Section,
I am excited to welcome you to a new bar year. Each new year gives us the chance to set priorities, strengthen our community, and build on the successes of the past.
One of the issues that came through clearly in our recent member survey was the need to explore exemption reform. This is an area that impacts practitioners across the state, and we will be working to ensure that your voices are part of that important conversation.
We also have opportunities for members to step into leadership. We are currently seeking:
- Chair of the Ethics Committee
- Co-Chair of the Technology Committee
These committees play a key role in advancing the work of our Section, and I encourage you to consider volunteering or nominating someone who would be a great fit.
And of course, please be sure to save the date for our premier annual event:
- Annual Bankruptcy Institute
- November 20–22, 2025
- Marriott, Downtown Greensboro
Our CLE Committee is already hard at work developing an excellent program, and I look forward to seeing many of you there.
Here’s to a productive and engaging Section year. If you have any questions or suggestions about the Section or the Bankruptcy Bar in general, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.
Sincerely,
Jim Lanik
Jim Lanik serves as the 2025-2026 Chair of the NCBA Bankruptcy Section.
