Looking for a Chance to Give Back? 4ALL is Coming Up!

By Benjamin R. Edwards

What’s the easiest, most fun and rewarding pro bono volunteer opportunity for in-house counsel? 4ALL! And the signature annual Statewide Service Day for the North Carolina Bar Foundation is coming up soon: Friday, March 5, 2021!

Volunteers throughout the state will provide free legal information all day. It’s a great opportunity for North Carolina lawyers to provide a valuable service and to have a good time doing it. And in case you have any lingering hesitation, just keep reading:

  • “But I don’t know anything about [family law, criminal law, etc.], I’m corporate counsel . . .”
    • . . . no problem! Resources are available for you to consult, and you can volunteer to handle questions for the particular areas of law that you know best.
  • “But I don’t have time . . .”
    • . . . no problem! You can sign up for a single two-hour window and take calls from anywhere you have access to a mobile device or Wi-Fi.
  • “But what about COVID?”
    • . . . no problem! This year’s event uses remote technology, so the calls will come straight to you — wherever you are.
  • “But I have to be available to my own clients during business hours . . .”
    • . . . no problem! The highest call volume is often between 5 and 7 p.m., when media coverage is highest. The 5 to 7 p.m. shift would be a great time to volunteer.

Ready to volunteer? You can sign up here. Still have questions? There are great summaries of the event here and here. Take advantage of the opportunity and volunteer to help with a fantastic event — you’ll be glad that you did!
