Samantha Hovaniec Joins Brooks Pierce

Samantha Hovaniec is now an associate at Brooks, Pierce, McLendon, Humphrey & Leonard, LLP, and she will work in the Raleigh office. Hovaniec practices transactional law and represents businesses in corporate matters: mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and equity and debt financing. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.A. in political science and economics and from UNC School of Law with a J.D.

Cranfill Sumner LLP (CSH Law) Welcomes Joan Welborn

Cranfill Sumner LLP (CSH Law) welcomes Joan Welborn, who is now a paralegal in the Raleigh office. She will work with the firm’s Workers’ Compensation Practice Group. Welborn has previous experience in employment and family law, as well as workers’ compensation defense. She received her paralegal certificate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Welborn earned a B.S. in business administration, management and organizational development from Mount Olive College and an MBA in human resource management from Strayer University.

Ragsdale Liggett Names Murray Partner

Ragsdale Liggett recently welcomed Paula Murray as the newest partner in the firm. Murray joined the firm in 2016 and practices in the Residential Real Estate Group. Her skills have been recognized in peer-reviewed publications including Best Lawyers in America “Ones to Watch,” Super Lawyers Rising Stars, and Business North Carolina magazine Legal Elite editions. Murray is a 2007 graduate of Meredith College, where she earned a B.A. in political science with a concentration in law and justice. She is a 2011 graduate of Campbell Law School. Murray resides in Raleigh with her husband and daughter.

Robinson & Lawing welcomes Jessica Bell as of Counsel. Her practice is focused on estate planning, estate and trust administration, and elder law. Before joining the firm, Bell established an estate planning and elder law private practice, which she managed for more than 13 years. She graduated from King College, where she double majored in English and history, and from Wake Forest University School of Law. Bell is admitted to practice in North Carolina and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Teddy, Meekins & Talbert Adds Lincolnton Office

The law firm of Teddy, Meekins & Talbert, P.L.L.C., recently announced the opening of its new office in Lincolnton. The firm held a ribbon-cutting ceremony during the office’s grand opening on Feb. 12. Meredith A. Shuford will lead the firm’s Family Law Division from the new Lincolnton location. Shuford recently joined the firm after serving as a District Court judge for the 27B Judicial District (Cleveland and Lincoln counties). She practiced law with Lewis & Shuford, P.A., in Lincolnton before her time as a judge, and is a graduate of North Carolina State University (1991) and North Carolina Central University School of Law (1997). The firm’s new office is located at 908 Dontia Drive.

Brook Stuntebeck Joins Triangle Smart Divorce

Triangle Smart Divorce announced that Brook Stuntebeck has joined the firm. Stuntebeck has years of experience practicing family law and focuses her practice on domestic relations, trials, appeals, and alternative dispute resolution. Stuntebeck assists clients with premarital, domestic partnership, and separation and property agreements, domestic relations orders, mediations, and more. She received a B.A. in English and philosophy from Georgia Southern University. After graduating with her J.D. from Georgia State College of Law, she moved to Texas, where she worked in corporate law before transitioning into a position in family law.
