The Minorities in the Profession Committee (MIP) has launched another exciting year as one of the most active committees in the North Carolina Bar Association. While we continue to adjust to the unique demands of the pandemic, we remain committed to our mission of eliminating discrimination and institutional racism in the legal profession and promoting increased diversity, equity, and inclusion overall. Below are our goals for the 2021-2022 bar year, information on our upcoming social, and a special welcome to our newest committee members!

2021-2022 MIP Committee Goals

Continue promoting the advancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the legal profession, including supporting the work of the NCBA Task Force on Integration, Equity, and Equal Justice and collaborating with other sections and committees on DE&I efforts.

Continue offering high quality and impactful events to support diverse law students and legal professionals, despite the pandemic and limits on in-person events.

Continue promoting speaking opportunities and recognition for diverse members of the bar.

Post at least one blog post each month highlighting MIP events and members.

Create pro bono opportunities that impact communities of color.

Expand intentional outreach to lawyers and other professionals of color, beyond law students.

We are confident that MIP’s dedicated and talented group of attorneys, legal professionals, and law students will meet and exceed these goals. To learn more about our goals and events, please go to the MIP website.
