Program Description

Privacy and data security are increasingly important issues for individuals and businesses alike. There have been more data breaches in 2021 to date than there were at this same time last year. Along with this increasing threat, the laws on privacy and data security are getting more onerous and complicated. Regardless of your area of practice, you are likely to be called on to address issues arising under one of these laws. The NCBA Privacy and Data Security Section has developed its annual CLE, “SolarWinds of Change and Other Challenges for the Privacy and Data Security Practitioner,” to provide attorneys and other practitioners an update on privacy and data security law in the past year and to cover a broad range of other topics, including emerging issues like artificial intelligence and legally required risk assessments, avoiding lapses in security due to oversights in supply chain management, and attorney ethical obligations in the privacy and data security space. We’ll round out the day with a data breach reenactment from professionals from different fields, to walk through a real-world example of how to respond to a data breach when it happens to you or your clients.
