2026 Real Property Section Annual Meeting Preview: Common Title Defects and Curative Strategies
By Maggie Davis
There is still time to register for the Annual Meeting! We are looking forward to seeing many of you there and hearing from our friend and colleague Maggie Davis, partner at Magnolia Legal.
Register for the Annual Meeting (May 15-16 in Asheville).
As a title lawyer, Maggie says her goal is to “clear the path forward” for her clients as they face complex title issues. At the Annual Meeting, Maggie will teach us how to “clear the path forward” too and will provide helpful curative strategies for even the messiest of title issues.

Maggie’s CLE session, “Common Title Defects and Curative Strategies,” explores the title problems real property attorneys encounter most often and how many of those problems can be prevented with careful drafting, execution, recording and review. Attendees will learn about title defects involving chain of title concerns, legal descriptions, defective deeds, access and survey issues and other challenges that can create significant complications if not addressed early.
Maggie will also discuss intestate succession issues, missed heirs, liens and judgments and practical strategies for identifying and curing title defects before they become litigation problems.
Throughout the session, Maggie combines practical examples, cautionary stories and practice tips aimed at helping attorneys avoid costly title complications and improve the quality of the public record.
Thank you for following along with us for the 2026 Real Property Section Annual Meeting Preview blog series. See you this week in Asheville!
