One in five children are food insecure in North Carolina, and more than 1.2 million North Carolinians – from children to seniors – face food insecurity and hunger in our state. The NCBA YLD’s Legal Feeding Frenzy is an opportunity for our legal community to come together to fight hunger across North Carolina and in your local community.

This food and funds drive lasts the entire month of March, with each law firm competing to see who can raise the most food per employee to benefit local Feeding the Carolinas food banks. By donating to food banks within our state, your dollars go further. Every dollar provides five meals.

Law firms, solo practitioners, law schools, public interest/government organizations, and corporate and in-house counsel are all encouraged to participate! Registration opens on February 22 and teams may pre-register. Get your team together and register today!

In addition to donating, the Legal Feeding Frenzy also provides our legal community the opportunity to volunteer at your local food banks. Join us at our in-person Kickoff event on March 3 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Food Bank of Central & Eastern Carolina, 1924 Capital Blvd., Raleigh, NC 27604. One thousand bonus pounds of food will be awarded to each team that has an attendee at the Kickoff event on March 3. Volunteers can pre-register for the Kickoff event. If you have an account, you can register via the pre-register link. If you do not, email Spencer.

Not in Raleigh, but still want to volunteer? If your firm is interested in coordinating a volunteer event, we can help with that, too. Teams that organize and participate in an on-site volunteer opportunity at a food bank between March 1–31 will receive 2,000 bonus pounds. Contact Spencer Fritts for assistance in planning and to receive credit for your participation.

The following bonus pounds will also be awarded:

  • 1,000 bonus pounds to teams that register between February 22 and February 24
  • 500 bonus pounds to teams that register between February 25 and February 28
  • 300 bonus pounds to teams that post or share information about #NCLFF23 and/or food insecurity in North Carolina on social media (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) at least one time (we encourage more) from March 1 to March 31.*

*To receive credit, you must email a screenshot of your post, with the timestamp, to [email protected].

After March 1, visit NC Legal Feeding Frenzy to donate and keep an eye on your competition. We look forward to another year of working together to fight food insecurity in our state!
