Welcome to a New Bar Year!

“I believe in hope. I believe in BELIEVE.” – Ted Lasso

When I started to practice law in North Carolina, the Litigation Section was critical to making me feel at home. It was a source of information, legal education, professional connections and friendships. My goal as Section Chair this year is to provide those same opportunities and connections to you as members of the section.

While I am not sure exactly what this coming bar year will look like, I am hopeful. I am also confident that the Litigation Section will provide opportunities for its members to learn, serve, network and even have some fun. The Litigation Council and its committees are planning an amazing year. Be on the lookout for:

  • Networking events – both virtually and in person – including a Panthers football game. If you have your own ideas or would like to volunteer to host a virtual event, please reach out and let me know.
  • Outstanding CLE programming from our CLE Committee.
  • Guidance and alerts of new ethics opinions from our Ethics Committee.
  • Our section blog that will provide timely updates on the latest court news, including updates related to COVID-19 and the e-Court initiative. Please contact our Communications Committee at [email protected] if you have a blog post or article that you think would be of interest to North Carolina litigators.
  • Exciting events from the Diversity Committee, which is also working to identify and recruit diverse candidates for Council membership (based on gender, race, nationality, age, sexual orientation, etc.).

I am honored to serve as your Section Chair this year. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me to discuss your ideas or concerns, or to volunteer your service to the Council. I look forward to an outstanding year.
