Cox is a North Carolina Bar Certified Paralegal with more than six years of experience in elder law and estates. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a Bachelor of Arts in communication studies and a minor in psychology and from Cape Fear Community College with an associate’s degree in paralegal technology.

Dean, who is based in the firm’s Raleigh office, focuses on professional liability defense, general business disputes, premise and products liability cases, and admiralty and maritime matters. She practices in federal and State courts across North Carolina. She obtained a Juris Doctorate at the University of North Carolina School of Law and a Bachelor of Science in business administration from UNC.
Rylee Dillard has joined Hall Booth Smith, P.C. (HBS) as an associate attorney in the firm’s Charlotte office. Her practice is focused on medical malpractice, general liability and workers’ compensation. Prior to joining HBS, she practiced at an insurance defense firm located in Charlotte and represented clients in workers’ compensation disputes. Dillard earned a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science with a concentration in politics, philosophy and law from the College of Charleston.
Zac Bolitho is now of counsel with Cranfill Sumner & Hartzog LLP in Raleigh. He will practice with the White Collar & Criminal Defense Group. Prior to joining the firm, Bolitho was an Associate Deputy Attorney General and the Chief of Staff to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein at the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. Bolitho serves as an Associate Professor of Law at Campbell Law School in Raleigh. He received a Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, from the University of Mount Union, and a Juris Doctorate, summa cum laude, from The Ohio State University.
Morningstar Law Group announced that Marie Farmer is now an associate attorney with the firm. She will practice in the Litigation Practice Group. Prior to Morningstar Law, Farmer was a legal fellow at the University of North Carolina’s Office of Legal Counsel. There, she offered litigation support and assisted in a variety of areas, including constitutional, healthcare, employment, and intellectual property law. Farmer obtained a Juris Doctorate from the University of North Carolina School of Law, and she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Law and Philosophy from the University of Florida.
Smith Anderson welcomes Mark Griffith, a corporate attorney, to the firm. Griffith will work with the Energy and Renewable Energy and M&A practice teams. He has significant experience in energy transactions, economic development and matters related to financial institutions. Prior to Smith Anderson, Griffith practiced with Troutman Sanders. He serves on the chamber of commerce and has taught a course on renewable energy transactions at UNC School of Law. Parker Poe’s Charlotte Location Moves To Legacy Union
The Charlotte location of Parker Poe has moved from Three Wells Fargo Center to the Bank of America Tower at Legacy Union. Their new address is 620 S. Tryon St., Charlotte, NC 28202. The firm is located on floors six, seven, and eight in the new building. Legacy Union is located at the intersection of Tryon and Stonewall streets on the south side of Uptown.

Sarah Clark has joined Skufca Law, PLLC located in South End Charlotte. As outside counsel, Stephen has assisted businesses across the state in a number of areas, including regulatory issues. Rochelle B. Mayfield has joined the Charlotte office of Eller Tonnsen Bach as of counsel. Before Eller Tonnsen Bach, she practiced at Hedrick Gardner Kincheloe & Garofalo LLP in Charlotte. Her clients included employers and insurance carriers. R. Scott Tobin was named as a partner at Taylor English Duma, LLP. Tobin practices in the areas of business, finance, strategic partnerships, licensing, mergers, and acquisitions, emerging companies and venture capital, corporate and litigation. In December of 2019, Rebecca A. Edwards was hired as Deputy General Counsel at Global Knowledge Learning LLC, an IT training company based in Cary. Edwards obtained a bachelor’s degree in English, with honors, from UNC Chapel Hill and a Juris Doctorate, cum laude, from Campbell Law School. As a member of the North Carolina Bar Association, Edwards has chaired the Family Law Council Children’s Issues Committee and served as co-chair for this committee. At Wake Family Law Group, she practiced in family law litigation and negotiation. In 2019, she ran for District Court judge in Wake County. Tharrington Smith Announces Four New Partners Four associate attorneys—Melissa Michaud, Stephen Rawson, Jeffrey Russell, and Colin Shive—have been promoted to partners at Tharrington Smith in Raleigh. Michaud, Rawson, and Shive practice in the Education Law Section, and Russell practices in the Family Law Section.
Michaud has worked at Tharrington Smith since 2013, prior to which she taught middle school in eastern North Carolina through Teach for America. She holds a bachelor of arts in political science from Brown University and a juris doctorate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Rawson has worked at Tharrington Smith since 2013, prior to which he was a middle school science teacher in Kentucky. He holds a bachelor of science in physics and a juris doctorate from Duke University.

Firms Announce Name Change, Appointments
The firm Dungan, Kilbourne & Stahl has recently changed its name to Allen Stahl + Kilbourne after hiring Derek Allen. Allen’s practice focuses on land use and development. Founder Robert Dungan will continue to support the development and expansion of the firm. Phone numbers for the firm and its attorneys will not change, but a new website, asklawnc.com, is currently under construction.
Zachary Anstett has joined the Raleigh office of Cranfill Sumner & Hartzog as an associate attorney in the Workers’ compensation practice. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland and a Juris Doctorate, cum laude, from Campbell University.
