Family Law Section Pro Bono Opportunities – March 2021

By Larissa Mervin

Family Law Section members, have you been looking for safe and effective ways to give back to the community? Well, look no further. Two upcoming North Carolina Bar Foundation pro bono events give us the opportunity to share the wealth of family law knowledge and experience that our section has to offer. Details for both events, including how to register for each one, can be found below.

NCBF 4ALL Statewide Service Day

This event is being held on Friday, March 5, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. It is the largest annual pro bono program that the North Carolina Bar Foundation hosts and is heavily covered by news stations throughout the state. It only requires a few hours of your time and is completely virtual this year, making it one of the simplest and safest ways to participate in pro bono in 2021. If you are interested in participating, please click here to gather more information and register.

Family Law Section Annual Empower Hour

Last year, the Family Law Section held our very first Annual Empower Hour. It was such a fun and simple way to connect as a section, while providing pro bono legal advice to our community. The North Carolina Bar Foundation provides all the tools necessary for a successful hour by using the NC Free Legal Answers platform. This gives us the opportunity to clear the queue of family law questions community members have. You can answer as many or as few questions as you like and can collaborate with your colleagues who are participating with you. For more information on this year’s Empower Hour, which will be held on Thursday, March 25, 2021, at 4:30 p.m., and to register for the event, please click here.

We look forward to seeing you at one, or both, of the events mentioned above! For more information on either one, feel free to contact Cheyenne Merrigan at [email protected].
